Amanda & Patrick: their love story
Amanda remembers: "When I told you my dream was to get married in France, you just said "why not", supporting my dreams every step of the way"The couple first met in 2016 during their time in college in Florida. Patrick recalls: "Who could have ever known that 5 years ago on a random April night our paths would cross changing our lives in an instant".With over 40,000 students in the entire university, meeting new people happened every day. But from the moment Amanda and Patrick met, they had the feeling that they would be seeing each other again. Despite the city being very accessible by car, Patrick insisted that he walk her home. Patrick says, "I just could not imagine the night ending and wanted to think of any way possible to spend more time with her. Amanda says, "I was wearing heels and was not prepared to walk home! Pat actually took off his shoes and let me wear them while holding my heels and walking barefoot on the cold pavement so that I could be comfortable. It was such a selfless gesture, one that predicted exactly the type of person Pat has been during our entire relationship". They quickly developed a relationship after. One that was full of honesty, laughter and a comfort that could only be known to two people that fit perfectly into each other's lives. Amanda says, "I remember talking to my best friends from middle school and them telling me to take it slow. I couldn't put into words how sure I was of our relationship. It was a gut feeling that definitely steered me in the right direction." They spent a few years together in Florida before Amanda got accepted into a medical school in Maryland. While Patrick had never wanted to leave Florida, he would repeat the same thing to Amanda every day, "As long as I am with you I am the happiest man in the world".
The wedding style and decoration inspiration
White peonies, blush roses, lisianthus, carnations, anthuriums and a touch of pampas grass. A vision of delicate floral arrangements with the stunning backdrop of the Chateau.Wedding weekend started with wine tasting tour in the renowned vineyards of Burgundy, followed by al fresco welcome dinner at the chateau. Before joining the guests for delicious dinner Amanda and Patrick enjoyed a little alone time for their pre-wedding portraits. Amanda wore her hair down in Hollywood waves to compliment stylish white dress and chic blush velvet heels. Patrick was all smart casual in a dark navy suit wearing no tie.Saying yes to the dress? Bridal lookFrom the beginning, Amanda wanted to incorporate vintage styles into her bridal look but make a statement with a glam dress. She envisioned a mermaid silhouette with intricate lacing and beadwork. She fell in love with the first gown she tried on and never looked back. "I am usually indecisive about big decisions, but I knew the dress was exactly what I wanted from the moment I stepped into it. Love at first sight seemed to be a pattern in Patrick and I's relationship!" She found a vintage French comb to put in her hair and kept the look classic in a low chignon and nude Christian Louboutin heels to wear with her gown. She paired her look with long pearl and gold earrings from a French jeweler, Maison Sabben. Before getting into their white silk slip dresses from Revelry, the bridesmaids and the bride enjoyed some fun moments sipping champagne in the château Princess Suite. Blush silk pajamas was a gift from the bride along with Prada sunglasses. Patrick donned a Bonobos tuxedo, and black velvet bowtie, with his groomsmen keeping the style in Jos. A. Bank suits, also complimented by black velvet bowties and elegant moccasins. The groom also wanted to incorporate vintage styles and gifted all of the groomsmen cufflinks from antique shops in Maryland. The entire Bridal party attire was classic and timeless in the black and white color palette. The blazing sun greeted everyone on the wedding morning during the first preparations for the day. While the couple had planned for an outdoor ceremony with the magnificent château in the background, al fresco dinner by the lavender fields, and dancing under the stars, mother nature had her own plans and everything had to be moved inside. Yet sometimes plan B may be no less magical as plan A!
The special moments
Just before the first look with Patrick Amanda received a very personal gift from Patrick’s sister, a family heirloom – it was their mother’s engagement ring diamond crafted into an elegant necklace. Patrick’s mother passed away when he was only 16 years old so it was so special to have her presence with him on that day. »I have been waiting for this for 26 years… ok let’s do it! », said Amanda’s dad opening his eyes full of happy tears to see Amanda for the first time in her bridal gown during their father-daughter first look just before the ceremony. It was time to entrust her to Patrick and he proudly walked his daughter down the aisle. The couple’s wedding planner Aurelie had the honor of officiating their ceremony, while they exchanged vows, they wrote to each other leaving no soul untouched deeply. After the ceremony, Amanda and Patrick celebrated with a champagne tower in front of the château, just as they finished pouring the last bottle rain drops started falling and everyone went to enjoy the cocktail hour inside the château’s historic state rooms. Amanda and Patrick hosted their reception in the venue’s historic orangery house, now a white space with huge windows bringing that airy modern look. They planned for one long guest table, adorned with taupe candles and low floral arrangements in blush, white and beige. Grand crystal chandeliers were brought in as a luxurious accent to this minimalistic modern space. Contemporary white-and-gold cutlery, pleated glass dishware, and crystal glassware added to the modern romantic tablescape style. Guest menus were trimmed with gold and featured the château sketch, while name cards were crafted as ancient scrolls, also trimmed with gold. Cake time was arranged outside, all the guests gathering around the couple with sparklers in hand to enjoy traditional French croquembouche. The couple’s first dance opened the floor and danced the night away. Everyone felt blessed as ever-changing covid-19 restrictions were eased exactly on their wedding day canceling 11pm curfew, which would have not allowed the couple and the guests to enjoy the party.
