Could there be any doubt that a welcome fete is the best way to kickstart a wedding? The idea behind this Rhodes destination inspiration was to create a bash for the couple’s guests that would pay tribute to the locale of their dreams with just the right touch of elegance and surprises. And who better to make this possible than two uber-talented natives, Katia, and Katerina from Golden Apple Weddings who happen to know the cosmopolitan island of the Dodecanese like the back of their hands. Know-how doesn’t, of course, begin with only conceptualizing on the overall aesthetics – watch out for soaked in bold and bright hues florals and dinner inspo- but also bringing together cultural elements that have been core to celebrating wedding events. An Editorial captured by fine art photographer Panayiotis Hadjiapostolou, coordination by The Secret Owl.

The wedding venue
Katia and Katerina tells us about their inspiration: Although Rhodes is steeped in history -think Medieval knights and the Order of St John, the Palace of the Great Magistrate, Byzantine, Ottoman and Venetian lines that have adorned the island – the venue chosen, Don Mansion on The Hill, is an American prep style luxury villa. Hence their conviction to bridge the past and present the most charming way possible. Their goal was to transform the welcome fete into a true experience of tastes and palettes one only finds in Rhodes, where the guests would not just pick a bag of goodies but rather have the chance to enjoy all the goodness first hand, by creating their own “treasure chest”.

{ Chic wedding in Rhodes } For that Golden Apple Weddings made to order Rhodian artisan tiles Nassos Keramik, coasters and dishes that not only can serve as the actual decor but are there for the taking. Calligraphed paper goods menus and cards from calligraphiés réalisés par Manousenia Design matched the patterns on them.

Guests favors
{ Chic wedding in Rhodes } An extended array of edibles and treats was prepared, ranging from Koriandolino, a sugar-coated coriander branch that looks like a small tree inside a bottle of liqueur, to ““melekouni”, a pastry made of toasted sesame seeds, thyme honey, whole almonds, orange zest and cinnamon, and “talagoutes”, pancakes made with honey, walnuts, sesame seeds and cinnamon.

Fresh florals that matched the couple’s, orange, amber, and marigold ranunculus asclepias beatrix, wine leaves, hypericum and spray roses were prepared into neat bouquet and tied with silk ribbons, along with a piece of vintage cutlery.
The wedding dinner
{ Chic wedding in Rhodes } The dinner setup was arranged as the classical al-fresco Mediterranean meal, deliciously rustic with plateaux of cheese, local varieties of fresh herb bread, salty bites, dried fruit from Giafka rnd studio, and two bespoke, signature cocktails our mixologists Decent Bar prepared for the occasion based on the exact same recipes of the spirit and the sweets. The beautiful cake from Pavlovs Lab is an eye-catcher. The styled followed tradition and is reminiscent of the ones we come across on the Amalfi Coast only this time every element came from Rhodes.

The couple
{ Chic wedding in Rhodes } Our dress and beauty stylists Kiss From Fleur Setty Blade gave the couple the perfect look for an euphoric time under the sun and the stars, keeping things fun-loving, chic and youthful.
