Interview with Greek bridal designer Madebride by antonea
You may have already spotted them on Instagram, the wedding gowns from Greek designer Dimitra Antonea can be recognized by their unique finishes and breathtaking details! Wedding photographers around the world have not been mistaken, the dresses regularly fly from Greece to the four corners of the world for wedding editorials more beautiful than the others. I wanted to know more about this brand and Dimitra responded very kindly to my questions. Read her interview below, along with some photos of the beautiful creations of her latest collection “From Dawn to Dusk”.

Madebride: the philosophy
Who is Dimitra, what is her philosophy?
Made Bride by Antonea bridal atelier is one of the most reliable brands in handmade wedding dresses in Greece. In charge is the designer and owner of the brand Dimitra Antonea, with perennial, continuous and consistent presence in bridal gowns.
She holds the brand for over than 12 years and during those years she has helped hundreds of brides-to-be to find the dress of their dreams, offering them a personalized experience. Her personal contact with each one of them individually –as she makes herself all the appointments from the first meeting to the final delivery of the wedding dress- manages to create a friendly and intimate atmosphere, ensuring the uniqueness they deserve when they choose the most important dress of their lives.
All real brides that trust her and wish to wear her creations, are able to choose between designs of her exclusive collections that are delivered annually or to create a variation of the original design just for them. Her creations derive from her youthful enthusiasm and the flexible styles she uses are shaped in unexpected and imaginative combinations.
The New Collection, "From Dawn to Dusk"
Can you talk about the latest collection? What is the inspiration?
“From dawn to dusk” collection is inspired by the variety of colors the sky changes during the day. Bridal gowns in outstanding shades that fill the sky into 24 hours, starting from the first bright sun rays upon blue and above white clouds, to the pink, lilac and violet shades fading in the horizon at dusk until sunset.
The whole collection, which consists 21 stunning designs, combines a lot more than some delicate wedding dresses. They are all made from exquisite materials by hand and lovingly provided with floral details. Each one of them stands for feminity, individuality and self-confidence.

One typical creative day at your atelier?
The day begins early in the morning, going to my atelier. It usually includes meetings with fabric suppliers, orders and appointments with brides-to-be for their fittings. Checking emails and respond to every single one of them. Our super creative period is when a new collection is about to be created. I tend to focus on sketching, getting inspired by almost everything: nature, colours, every day life and the real brides that visit the atelier. One of my favourite and busy periods is when the collection gets launched to the public. I am used to involve in catwalk's preparations, designing and styling up the event.

Tipps from Madebride to choose a wedding dress
Your best advice to a bride when it comes to choose her wedding dress?
One thing I always say to my brides is that they should not just look at the proportions of the body and rely exclusively on them to choose the wedding dress. The face, eyes and hair style is equally important for every bride. There is a tendency to ignore the head, but this is very important because it determines the whole style. Imagine a girl with long hair and intense eyes and a girl with more delicate facial features and short hair. I would definitely suggest a very different style of wedding dress to each one.

Your dresses are requested from wedding photographers from all around the world. What is your key to such an international success?
This is something that give us great pleasure! It all started with some shootings we had here in Greece with Greek fine art photographers and many of these collaborations got featured in big bridal blogs. After that, we had so many styled shoot requests from great photographers and wedding planners worldwide, that really swept up our feet! It is truly wonderful to be recognized for your talent as a designer, hard work and innovation as a brand name. All these years, we remain steadfast in our vision and our desire to always offer the best to the bride-to-be and the wedding industry in general. This is why we invest in exceptional quality fabrics and import lace and we pay great attention even to the smallest detail of each wedding dress.

Do you have or having soon stockists in France or in Europe?
At the moment, we do not stock our wedding dresses in any showroom abroad. It is our great wish of course, we would be more than happy to see it happening in the future and we are already working in this direction, as we are open to suggestions. For the time being, after a great demand, we have successfully managed to serve a lot of brides-to-be from abroad, just by choosing a creation from our collections and giving us their measurements. It's just that simple to make the dress of their dreams their own, and receive it at any destination needed.
